Anniversary of Friendship between Russia and Indonesia
| Students who study the Indonesian language and the culture of Asian countries were invited to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia on the 20th March. The evening was devoted to the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the former Soviet Union and the United States of Indonesia. |
To be more precise, the history of relationships between Russia and Indonesia originated on February 3, 1950. On this day the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United States of Indonesia M. Hatta responded to the Soviet Union Government report from 25 January 1950 about the decision to recognize a new independent and sovereign state – the Republic of the United States of Indonesia, and to establish diplomatic relations. In his message, M. Hatta wrote that Indonesia highly appreciates this recognition and is ready to negotiate on the implementation of diplomatic relations. Since then February, 3 is the official start date of friendship between our countries. More than a hundred of guests gathered in the Indonesian embassy on the 20th of March. For about four hours the students who have passed an internship at the University of Indonesia this year, were sharing their impressions of the trip, and plans for the future. "These six months spent in Jakarta have completely changed my life – said Natalia Zhegalova, a project manager of Petros Group. – This country, washed by warm seas, has become a truly “native land” for me as the song by V. Korchagin goes”. It is worth saying that the last year celebration was attended only by few people. Such a rapid growth of interest of the Russian students to Indonesia shows a significant progress of diplomatic relations between our countries. As the advisor of the Embassy of Indonesia M. Adji Surya said, the future of our countries depends on young people, and Russian students studying Indonesian language, of course, will make a positive contribution to the strengthening of Russian-Indonesian friendship. |
