Pertamina Increases Non-Subsidized Fuel Prices
State-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina has increased the price of its non-subsidized fuels — which include Pertamax, Pertamax Plus and Bio Pertamax — across Indonesia, as of Tuesday. The price of Pertamax increased to Rp 8,050 per liter from Rp 7,850 previously, whereas Pertamax Plus now costs Rp 8,450 per liter, up from Rp 8,100, kompas.com reported Tuesday. The decision to increase prices was made because of a recent increase in global crude oil prices, which currently hover at around US$100 per barrel. Analysts have said it would not be unforeseeable for the price of Pertamax to climb up to Rp 8.900 per liter — almost twice the price of subsidized fuel (Premium), which now sells at Rp 4,500 per liter. Earlier, the government said it would ban private vehicles from using Premium by the end of March. |
