150 Сompanies Expected to Participate in IPA Convention.
The Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) announced Wednesday it would hold the 35th IPA Convention and Exhibition with the theme “Indonesia Energy: Growth, Security and Sustainability” from May 18 to 20 at the Jakarta Convention Center.
The association will invite 150 local and international companies to take part in the event, which will be held on 4,000 square meters area designed to accommodate more than 4,000 visitors.
“As of today, more than 130 companies have confirmed their participation. We expect more will confirm soon and in total, we hope the number of participant companies will exceed 150 this year making it the largest ever,” said convention chairman Vincent Soetedja at a press conference in Jakarta.
He added that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was scheduled to officially open the event.
IPA chairman Ron Aston said the event's theme was relevant to the situation Indonesia was facing today.
“We believe the theme is very relevant to Indonesia today, its remarkable economic growth, the maturity of its oil-producing fields, the focus of exploration on the abundant-but-unproven reserves at the frontier areas and the increasing efforts to unlock its unconventional gas,” he explained.
Those circumstances opened huge investment opportunities in the oil and gas industry and the IPA has been committed to support the government in attracting investors, he added.
